Three-metal blackening challenge solved

Case Study

The ‘more the merrier’ approach can sometimes lead to complications when it comes to blackening parts. This was the case for a manufacturer of sound reduction products for the firearms industry, who needed a part comprised of three different metals to be blackened. Inconsistent finishes prompted them to seek assistance from Hubbard-Hall.

Hubbard-Hall’s team first addressed a cleaning issue causing a white haze on stainless steel parts by installing an aqueous cleaning line with Aquaease PL. They then focused on blackening the part made of Cobalt 6, Inconel, and 17-4 Stainless Steel, using their Black-Magic line.
